Committee Description

Ensuring Learning is a subcommittee of Institutional Effectiveness that supports the development and implementation of meaningful outcomes assessment, the use of outcomes assessment data to identify achievement gaps, and purposeful dialog that informs professional development aimed at improving teaching and learning and eliminating achievement gaps.

Committee Purpose

The committee shall:

  • Support meaningful outcomes assessment across the college
  • Guide the Institutional Learning Outcomes Assessment Process
  • Guide the GE Learning Outcomes Assessment process including the alignment of Course Outcomes to GE Learning Outcomes and GE
  • Learning Outcomes to Institutional Learning Outcomes
  • Support the development and use of learning management system data to inform the course outcomes assessment
  • Promote the analysis of SLO assessment data to identify achievement gaps and promote evidence-based teaching and learning practices
  • Assist in the identification and/or creation of professional development opportunities to address those achievement gaps

Committee Membership

Recommended committee membership: 18 members.

Faculty

The committee shall include 13 faculty members, including:

  • SLO Coordinator
  • PD Coordinator or Representative
  • Faculty Researcher
  • One representative from the Teaching and Learning Leads
  • One representative from each of the eight CACs
  • One representative from Student Services

Classified Professionals

The committee shall include three classified professionals:

  • Research and Equity IT Business/Tech Analyst
  • Student Services Area Supervisor
  • Administrative Area Supervisor

Administration

The committee shall include two members of the administration:

  • Dean of Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Planning
  • Dean of a Career and Academic Community
