This is an invitation for open conversation, reflection, and collaboration as we work towards what equity looks like in our daily work, share experiences, and learn practical strategies to cultivate more inclusive and supportive environments. The OER Conversion Grant now includes an exciting new option in Category 3: the opportunity to create an AI chatbot connected to your OER textbook. In this interactive session, participants will explore the grant criteria and learn the initial steps to design and launch their own AI teaching assistant using Playlab. Discover how this innovative tool can enhance student engagement, provide 24/7 learning support, and bring your OER materials to life.

Instructure's Canvas developers have been busy! Over the past year, they have been designing new tools to make our students’ learning experiences more engaging and your teaching options more vibrant. In this session we will cover a variety of new Canvas features we’re excited about, and we’ll revisit some almost-new options we’d like to remind you of.

Presentation on the Re-Emerging Scholars Program at CRC, specifically how we support students on the incarceration to education pipeline from wrap around educational support, transfer services, general life and person growth to rehabilitation and society reintegration.

Handshake is the districtwide platform Los Rios uses to connect students with meaningful opportunities: jobs, internships, on-campus roles, and direct access to employer networks. This workshop shows simple, practical ways to elevate your existing work—adding Handshake to your syllabus, sharing opportunities through Canvas, and using quick assignments that turn classroom learning into real-world momentum.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about the importance of pronouns to queer and trans students and get a glimpse of the laws and policies that support students’ use of pronouns and chosen names on our campuses. There will be lots of time to practice using pronouns correctly in a safe and supportive environment.

Furthering the work of the fall convocation, join colleagues from multiple disciplines to explore ways to build class policies and spaces that are welcoming, supportive, and equitable for disabled students. You will come away with concrete strategies to implement in your classes.

Please note: This is not a workshop or a content-driven session; this is to help you with your questions while you build your courses. Drop-in support for Canvas, course design and accessibility needs - no matter if you're teaching online or in-person. This will be run like office hours. Drop-in whenever you want with your question/concern.

Ungrading is an equitable assessment practice that encourages students to focus on learning, not their course grade. Assignments become opportunities to practice, and students are empowered to use their achievements as evidence to support the grade they think they have earned in the class. In this session we will discuss ungrading and learn how to use Canvas without points in support of this practice.
