Description
CRC Music Professor and composer Kurt Erickson reflects on the process of transforming lived experience and storytelling into music. Drawing from interviews with grief survivors of the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland, Erickson’s work Each Moment Radiant explores themes centering on personal narrative, memory, and creative practice as they intersect in the making of his concert work for Syracuse University.
Erickson will also discuss his ongoing collaborations with military veterans (including a recent California Arts Council grant to work with San Francisco VA Medical Center), using art making practice as a means to help veterans battling PTSD and trauma.
